They stopped on the way home and picked up good bread, some butter, and
tins of caviar from the Russian supermarket. The proprietor also sold
them some red wine which had come from the Baltic sea.
She spread two pages of newspaper on the large table and together they
had a feast, reading passages aloud from books they had picked up at the
library and discussing the main philosophical points.
They ate the good bread with the butter and caviar all up, leaving few
crumbs. After finishing the good wine, they crumpled the newspaper into
the wastebasket and went to bed.
